A $399.99 box with no game in it

Rockstar Games opened pre-orders on September 24, 2026 for Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State - Vice City Collection, a limited collector's box priced at $399.99 in the United States.[1][2] The Rockstar Store explicitly excludes the game from the package: buyers must purchase GTA VI separately.[1]

That is not a caveat added by journalists. It is Rockstar's own listing, and VICE's coverage of the reveal repeated it plainly - it is a merchandise collection that does not actually include the game.[2] If you want to play on launch day, the box does not get you there on its own.

What is actually inside

Rockstar lists eleven items, built around Macca the Gator, the star of a television show that exists inside the game's version of Florida:[1][2]

  • a Macca the Gator figure with a twist-open stash compartment in the base
  • matte black Oakley Frogskins sunglasses with Prizm Sapphire lenses and a pink GTAVI logo
  • a Leonida Keys ripstop crossbody bag
  • a New Era 9FORTY A-Frame snapback with Vice City and Leonida detailing
  • a Macca the Gator magnetic mirror in electroplated pink glass
  • a Chunkee the Manatee shot glass with a laser-etched Rockstar Games logo on the base
  • a Vice City collectible swizzle spoon
  • a razor-blade-style Vice City keychain
  • nine Leonida Keys enamel pins in a metal tin
  • nine crack-and-peel vinyl stickers in a stash bag
  • a double-sided souvenir poster, Macca artwork on one face and a map of Leonida on the other

The box measures 19 by 13.5 by 12.5 inches, is labelled an adult collectible for ages 18 and over, and is not eligible for free shipping, so delivery is charged on top of the price.[1]

The buying rules

It is sold through the Rockstar Store only, requires a signed-in Rockstar account rather than guest checkout, and is limited to one purchase per person while supplies last.[2][4] Shipping begins November 19, 2026 - the game's launch day - which is the date a box can leave the warehouse, not the date it arrives.[2][4] Buyers outside the US and UK may also owe local duties and taxes on top.[4]

Where that leaves the game itself

Grand Theft Auto VI is still sold in two editions: Standard at $79.99 and Ultimate at $99.99.[3] The physical copy of the game is a download code in a box with no disc included, so even a collector buying the boxed game is not getting a disc.[1][3][5]

That is the shape of the offer. A buyer who wants the shelf piece and launch-day access is looking at the collector's box plus a separate game purchase, and there is no bundle that combines them and no announced Collector's Edition of the game itself.[1][3][4]
