Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for Thursday, November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar's announcement, its support documentation and Microsoft's listing agree on the date and console families. There is no announced third delay in the official material checked for this guide.[1][2][3]

The confusion comes from older announcements that remain searchable. Rockstar first promised a 2025 release, then set May 26, 2026, before moving the game to November. Those earlier dates describe the campaign's history; neither is the current launch plan.[1][4][5]

The first change: out of 2025

Take-Two narrowed the original calendar-2025 window to autumn in its May 2024 financial results. It was still a season rather than a specific day, but it gave players and investors a more precise expectation.[5]

On May 2, 2025, Rockstar replaced that window with May 26, 2026. The studio apologised for the wait and said development needed more time to reach its intended quality standard. That announcement explains why May 26 still appears in old coverage and in the date card attached to the second trailer.[4]

The second change: into November

Rockstar announced the next move on November 6, 2025. Take-Two's quarterly results published that day also listed November 19, 2026. The studio again cited finishing and polishing the game; neither announcement tied the change to a removed feature or a different set of launch platforms.[1][6]

November is therefore the second specific release date, following two postponements when measured against the original 2025 window. Calling it the third announced day would confuse a broad release window with a dated launch.[1][4][5]

The evidence since the delay

Take-Two continued to use November 19 in subsequent financial disclosures. Its May 2026 results tied the following financial year's outlook to that launch. In August, the company reiterated an $8.0–$8.2 billion net bookings forecast for fiscal 2027, again with GTA VI central to the plan.[7][8]

Those disclosures give the date more weight than an old trailer caption or an unsourced social post. They do not make a future change impossible: Rockstar has already changed its timetable twice. The useful distinction is between a published schedule and a guarantee that nobody outside the studio can provide.

Buying against the current schedule

Rockstar's support material also sets the preload start at November 12 and explains that the retail game box contains a download code rather than a disc. That download window is separate from the November 19 release, and it should not be mistaken for early access.[2]

A global launch-hour announcement and an official file size are separate questions, not reasons to substitute another date. For a purchase decision, use the current platform listings and Rockstar's support page.
