Trailer 2 arrived four days after a delay
Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 2 went up on 6 May 2025 with no countdown and no advance notice, four days after Rockstar announced the game was moving out of its original 2025 window [4][28]. The date card inside the trailer read 26 May 2026, a date that has since moved again to 19 November 2026 [31][1].
Why the timing mattered
Rockstar had moved the game on 2 May 2025, pushing it out of its original 2025 window to 26 May 2026, then published the trailer four days later with no warning [31][28]. The timing shifted attention from the postponement to the first substantial new footage since 2023. That release was unannounced; it does not establish a rule for every later reveal.[28]
The video itself
It runs 2 minutes 47 seconds and is set to The Pointer Sisters' "Hot Together" [31][28]. Rockstar identifies PS5 as the capture hardware in its press release.[7] GTA BOOM records the same detail and adds that the trailer mixes gameplay footage and cutscenes in roughly equal measure, which makes it useful for spotting systems but not a substitute for a continuous demonstration [28].
Story and cast
Trailer 2 put Jason and Lucia's relationship at the centre and set up the conspiracy stretching across Leonida [4][28]. It gave the supporting cast far more room than the 2023 reveal: Brian Heder, Cal Hampton, Boobie Ike and Dre'Quan Priest all appear, alongside Jason collecting Lucia after her release from prison [28]. Where Trailer 1 was a broad sweep of social media clips and Florida oddities, this one stays close to the couple and closes on the question of trust [28].
The record, and what it measures
Rockstar told The Hollywood Reporter that Trailer 2 passed 475 million views across all platforms in its first day, which the publisher called the biggest video launch of all time [13]. Wikipedia records the same figure and notes it took Best Game Trailer at the 2025 Golden Joystick Awards [12]. Read the comparison carefully, though: the 475 million counts every platform, from YouTube to TikTok, while Trailer 1's 93 million was a YouTube-only total.[29] On YouTube alone, Trailer 2's first day did not exceed Trailer 1's [29].
Songs, vehicles and callbacks
Trailer 2 carries five pieces of licensed music, led by The Pointer Sisters, with those identified songs distinct from the original music announced later for the album.[31]. It is also the source of a large share of the vehicles spotted in GTA 6 so far, and it shows Jason in a shirt that echoes Tommy Vercetti's look from the original Vice City - a callback rather than a confirmation of anything mechanical [28].
Where to watch it
Trailer 2 is on the Rockstar Games YouTube channel at youtube.com/watch?v=VQRLujxTm3c and is embedded on the official GTA VI page, which still lists it alongside Trailer 1 [1][10]. Rockstar's own accompanying text is unchanged: Vice City, USA, an easy score gone wrong, and a criminal conspiracy across the state of Leonida [1][4].
